For some reason these greasers seem less stream-lined and aggravated in the vinyl forum than in the live setting, but maybe that's because amps set at the threshold of pain tend to wash over certain...subtleties. Earlier I compared them to Gore and Big Black in terms of approach (kill anything that moves). That still holds true, but the emphasis doesn't seem so much on the extreme side. Read: This here's an angular number with a light touch that can break necks. Helmet resolved their Oedipal conflicts and still decided to be a Panzer with a rocket engine. You wouldn't want to meet their equipment in a dark alley, but I'm sure they're all nice boys with day jobs... -Ed Sullivan |
